Four Wellington women spanning three generations stepped out together to collect for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Awareness Week — showing the strength of family support in the face of a lifelong condition.
On 18 September 2025 Diane Sinai, her daughter Christie and Christie’s two daughters Winter and Indigo collected for the annual Wellington Multiple Sclerosis’ (WMS) annual MS Awareness Week Campaign, wearing bright orange Wellington MS t-shirts. MS Awareness Week is part of a national campaign led by Multiple Sclerosis New Zealand. Click on an images to see a bigger version.
Diane’s Connection
Diane Sinai says, “My local MS society, Wellington MS, supports me to live my best life in so many ways including treatment advice, news and information, support personalised to my needs, and events where I see other people with MS. If I need advice, Wellington MS is only a phone call away. My family understand how challenging it’s been living with MS for over 40 years so it’s wonderful they join me to support this amazing service.”
Why Christie Gets Involved
We asked Christie why she and her two daughters got involved. “My mum has lived with MS for as long as I can remember. It’s shaped so much of our lives and we’ve spent countless hours in hospitals, facing the ups and downs that come with this illness.
“Through it all, the Wellington MS Society has been a constant source of support, not just for Mum, but for our whole family. Their care and kindness have carried us through some of the hardest times. That’s why giving back means so much to me.
“This cause is deeply personal, and it’s important that my daughters grow up understanding the power of community and compassion. I’m incredibly proud that we get to do this together, three generations, side by side, collecting for a cause that has touched our lives in such a profound way.”
What The Youngest Generation Say

Both Winter and Indigo are keen to get involved, especially because they are keen to support others who may need help.
Winter (10 years old) says “It’s really hard thinking about MS when your Nani has it. I want to do all I can to make sure people know about MS and the people who need it most can get help.
Indigo (7 years old) says “It’s a good thing to help other people with MS, to make sure they get the love and support they need”.
Thanks from Wellington MS
Suzie Linton for Wellington MS says, “Wellington MS is very grateful to Diane and her family for supporting our campaign. MS is a disease that impacts the whole family so it’s wonderful that three generations of the family are together raising awareness and raising funds to support our free mobile Community Advisory service. Our thanks to all our wonderful clients and their families for getting involved – we couldn’t do what we do without them.
